Alert Cycle

How The Algo Platform Generates Ideas

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Building on The Radar Cycle framework, this course moves from tactical application to idea generation.

Now that students understand a Stock Market Cycle, The Algo Cycle and The Radar Cycle, this course teaches how to act on those insights through a structured, algorithm-assisted idea generation (The Algo, your co-pilot).

Radar spots opportunity. The Algo confirms it.

The Algo "co-pilot"

1. Radar

πŸ”΄

Scans and generates ideas 24/7.

2. Alert

πŸ”΄ β†’ 🟒

🟣 πŸ”· when the stock is attempting a reversal.

3. Order

πŸ”΄ β†’ 🟒

Queues and validates your "BUY" orders.

4. Entry

πŸ”΄ β†’ 🟒

Qualifies your idea, a close "Above" the Alert.

5. Trim, Target

🟒

Executes sell orders, realizing your gains.

6. Exit

🟒 β†’ πŸ”΄

Executes sell orders, managing your risk.

🟣 Whisper Alert

  • Oversold, and early in the Markup stage.

  • Higher Risk, Higher Reward.

πŸ”· Algo Alert

  • Oversold, and attempting the Markup stage (a Reversal).

  • High Risk, Higher Reward probability.

Key Lesson: Whispers tell you buyers are testing. Algos confirm they’ve arrived.

Lesson 3: Whisper vs Algo

  • 🟣 Whisper Alert: 0.5% risk on portfolio

    • Reversal while still oversold.

    • Action: enter Β½ position size on candle close.

  • πŸ”· Algo Alert: (another) 0.5% risk on portfolio

    • Reversal confirming.

    • The oversold condition is resolving.

    • Action: add second half (+Β½) or take full position if no Whisper preceded it.

Key Lesson: if there is no Whisper, then an Algo = we purchase the entire position on the Ago Alert.

Key Lesson: Only add if the combined R/R is greater than 1.

Key Lesson:Β Our position is put on all at once, fully sized.

Lesson 7: FA vs TA: What Each Tells You

Analysis Type

Role

Notes

Fundamental Analysis (FA)

Tells you what to buy.

Do you understand this business or security?

Technical Analysis (TA)

Tells you when to buy.

What is the catalyst for the window of opportunity?

Key Lesson: We build a shopping (watch) list, and the Algo generates ideas for us.

Key Lesson:Β Buying shares in a company means you are a part owner. It's best to invest in and understand what we are purchasing.

Lesson 8: R/R β€” Risk vs Reward

R/R

Score

Parlay Mindset

πŸ”΄ < 1

πŸ”΄ below 1

Reward < Risk

🟑 1.0 - 2.0

🟑 between 1 - 2

Risk =~ Reward

🟒 2.0 +

🟒 above 2

So good, we can't say no.

Risk works on a sliding scale; red is bad, yellow is cautious, and green is good.

Key Lesson: We want ideas that respect the Parlay Mindset, we want outsized risk vs reward.

Key Lesson: We want to risk $1 to make significantly more than $1.

Lesson 9: Why 1.0 R/R β€” Risk Management

Why do we colour-code R/R (Risk vs Reward) to discourage ideas below 1.0?

The Parlay Mindset taught us to look for opportunities that are so good we cannot say no.

When the R/R is greater than 1, we can generate a trim, and the potential reward becomes greater than our risk.

Key Lesson: Any alert can go up or down. However, when we always bet the same risk on account (up to 1%) per trade, it is best to look for opportunities with the highest risk-adjusted odds.

Key Lesson: Our only job is to say Yes or No to the idea. That is all.

Lesson 10: PAP β€” Plan, Assess, Proceed

Step

Purpose

Example

Plan

What will I regret more?

Potential Loss vs Potential Gain.

Assess

Verify the idea and alert type.

Do I understand the idea and expected holding period?

Proceed

I like the idea and want to order.

"Buy" to Order the idea.

(do no) Proceed

I (do not) like the idea and want (do not want) to order.

"Bin" to Delete, or ignore the idea (and it will expire).

Key Lesson: Our Edge, is in being PAYtient enough, to wait for the opportunities that are so good, we cannot say no. Then we act decisively.

Lesson 11: How to Make a Plan (Avoid Regret)

When we are looking to initiate a new position, we will regret both of these:

  1. I buy and it goes lower.

  2. I do not buy and it goes higher.

Key Lesson: Avoid what you will regret more.

If

then I will regret it more

therefore

I do not Buy

if it goes higher

Order the Whisper Alert 🟣

I Buy

if it goes lower

(do not order) the Whisper Alert 🟣

Lesson 12: How to Assess our Plan

Alert Type

Timeframe

Window of Opportunity

Daily Chart (1d)

Up to 3 Weeks

πŸ”΅ Swing

Weekly Chart (1w)

Up to 3 Months

🟒 Invest

Monthly Chart (1m)

Up to 1 Year

  1. Why is this stock on my watchlist?

  2. What is the Risk vs Reward Ratio?

  3. What is the Window of Opportunity (expected holding period)?

  4. What is the Catalyst for the Window of Opportunity (spark)?

Key Lesson: the Alert Type should match our expected holding period. No exceptions.

Key Lesson: Our Edge is identifying a potential catalyst that causes not just a bounce but a reversal.

Lesson 13: How to Proceed with our Plan

We proceed with our plan knowing that we are entering the ring, and could potentially get punched, so we manage the risk by limiting the maximum loss on the portfolio to:

  • 0.5% when we order a Whisper 🟣 Alert.

  • 1% when we order a Whisper Alert 🟣 + Algo Alert πŸ”·.

  • 1% when we order a (no) Whisper + Algo Alert πŸ”·.

Key Lesson: By embedding PAP into every order, we are able to Order the idea, and let our money work for us.

Lesson 14: How to Cancel an Order

The Risk vs Reward will change between the time of the alert and the close of the candle. This is expected, remember the Alert Price is the "minimum price" required to meet the qualifying criteria.

If for that reason, or any reason, you want to cancel the order, do so ASAP (and before the close of the Candle Period).

End of Week, 4pm

Monthly Chart (1m)

Up to 1 Year

End of Month, 4pm

Key Lesson: Cancel "CNCL" an order anytime, before the candle period closes.

Lesson 15: Qualified Alerts (Closed Candle)

We order Alerts while they are qualifying, and they are qualified on their respective Closed Candle Timeframe (1d or Trade, 1w or Swing, 1m or Invest).

Key Lesson: The Alerts receive a βœ… after they close over the alert price.

Lesson 16: Manual Exit (Override)

Once an alert is qualified (the candle period is closed), we can no longer cancel it. At this stage of the Cycle, we are able to perform a "Manual Exit".

Key Lesson: The Algo is your "co-pilot". You decide when to buy and whether and when to override and manually exit.

Lesson 17: Putting It All Together

Multiple cycles come together when you are presented with an Algo Alert (idea).

There is power in knowing how these all interplay and how PAYtience, discipline, and risk management are all baked into every idea on The Algo platform.

Cycle

Function

Stock Market

Professionals buy fear and sell greed.

Radar

Radar identifies opportunities (fear).

The Algo

The Algo identifies when to order.

The Order Cycle

The Algo manages the Order to Exit.

Key Lesson: The Algo platform ensures you’re acting on evidence and structure, not emotion and impulsiveness.
